The Ayazamana Dance Group, directed by Jose Rivera, performs traditional dances from different regions of Ecuador. The fundamental goal of the Ayazamana Dance Group is to allow the community to have greater access to Ecuadorian culture through dance so they can appreciate the richness and diversity that exists in Ecuador. The dance group performs throughout the year in different types of venues such as churches, community centers, theaters, libraries, government institutions, museums, schools, universities, and parades. Performances are done with authentic music and costumes from each region, and explanations are provided for each dance. The group has a repertoire of over fifteen choreographies and more than ten sets of wardrobe. Performances are done with audio track or live musicians, depending on the necessity of the event organizers.
The Ayazamana Dance Group, another project of the Ayazamana Cultural Center, is looking for new dancers. The requirements are be 15 years of age or older, pass an audition, and be available for rehearsals and performances that usually occur during the weekends. No experience is necessary, but you must be willing to learn.
